Adams County has a number of top bed & breakfast that pamper visitors and provide the all comforts of a country inn. All serve a generous breakfast, a friendly atmosphere, and perhaps best of all a place to leave your cares behind.


   The laid back county lifestyle and relaxation where the pace moves as slow as an Amish buggy is what guest find most attractive about these rural county retreats.
   Recently featured in the March/April issue of Midwest Living, visitors will find Adams County’s B&B’s within easy reach of the Amish community with its many shops, bakeries, and goods. The original Quilt Barn Trail that started right here in Adams County is easy to find and along with it, views of the countryside that are unparalleled in southern Ohio.
   Travelers to these bed & breakfast will find rural county roads that beckon to be explored, just outside their door.
   Riverhaven Bed and Breakfast: Located on the banks Ohio River in Manchester where overnighters can watch the river traffic from the comfort of large second story front porch. The historic estate was built during the 1890’s and its views of the river and the Kentucky hills are breathtaking with the Manchester Islands plainly visible. Nearby attractions include Moyer Winery and Restaurant, the Ohio River Scenic Byway, numerous quilt barns, and the Ohio River Islands National Wildlife Refuge.    The Rooster’s Nest Bed and Breakfast: Located on 25 acres in the rural countryside a few miles south of St. Rt. 32 and close to the Amish settlement; Rooster’s Nest is truly a county inn. The rustic retreat was built from the logs of a 1788 cabin and is situated next to a large stocked pond. Those who stay here frequently encounter the wildlife that is abundant in this part of the county.
   Deer, flocks of wild turkeys, and woodland warblers can be seen by the casual stroller and often are observed just outside the breakfast window.

   Murphin Ridge Inn: Originally built in 1828 when a military officer named William Murfin, returning from the war of 1812, built his home atop a ridge in central Adams County. The historic homestead has been turned into a dining hall serving guest some of the most renowned dishes in southern Ohio. Included into the Select Registry of Distinguished Inns of North America, Murphin Ridge Inn is nestled on 142 acres in the heart of Adams County’s Amish Country.
   The 10 room guest house and adjoining nine cabins feature a pool, fireplaces, and whirlpool tubs. Hiking trails, fine dining, and a short hop to many of the local Amish shops make Murphin Ridge an ideal getaway for vacations and business retreats. Its dining room is open evenings to the public Thursday through Saturday, however reservations are recommend.
