BROWN COUNTY May May 5 – National Day of Prayer recognition event at the Brown County Courthouse in Georgetown. The Continental Congress proclaimed the first National Day of Prayer in 1775. On May 5, 1988, President Ronald Reagan signed legislation establishing the first Thursday in May as the annual National Day of Prayer. An evening program in Georgetown is traditionally well-attended and anyone interested is invited to attend.

August 12-15 – The Ohio Valley Antique Machinery Show at the OVAM showgrounds at the intersection of state Route 125 and Winfield Road west of Georgetown. The event will features four parade, several vendors at an antique/craft/variety market, an antique car show, antique and garden tractor pulls, baby shows, a wide range of entertainers and performers, numerous pieces of agricultural equipment on display. August 26-29 – The Ohio Tobacco Festival in Ripley. Based in historic Ripley, the OTF celebrates the area’s agricultural heritage with several events packed into the three-day festival. Entertainment and competitions scheduled throughout the event, including an OTF queen pageant, tobacco worm race, a talent show and an arm wrestling competition. August 26-28 - 20th Annual Brown County Bluegrass Festival at the Brown County Fairgrounds in Georgetown. The festival will feature live music from 19 bands scheduled to perform, food, festival apparel, camping opportunities and other attractions. September 11 through October 10 – The Old Wild West Festival at 1449 Greenbush Cobb Road between Williamsburg and Mt. Orab. Spectacular scenes like those of John Wayne and James Stewart movies will be retold in live action this September as the Old West Festival – a one-of-a-kind event in Ohio – rolls back into town at its permanent site just 15 minutes from I-275, east of Cincinnati. The second annual Old West Festival will transform rambling acreage of beautiful Brown County countryside into an authentic Dodge City Wild West town dating back to 1878. Entertainment includes reenactments of gunfights as well as music and Wild West shows. Patrons are invited to dress in period-appropriate attire if they wish, and awards for best patron costume are presented each day at the Long Branch Saloon. September 27 through October 2 – The Brown County Fair in Georgetown. Known affectionately as “The Little State Fair,” the Brown County Fair has a variety of attractions in store for 2010. In addition to rides, games and agricultural competitions, the 2010 Brown County Fair will feature a freeconcert (with paid admission to the fair) by Country and Western star Neal McCoy on September 28. May 11 - Americana Music Concert. The Wilmington Schools Foundation, in celebration of Wilmington’s and Clinton County’s bicentennial year, is sponsoring the musical trio “Elixir” who will perform Americana music from the 1800s with a variety of musical instruments and vocal styles. 4 p.m. at Wilmington High School. May 22-23 - “Fishing Has No Boundaries” presented by the Cowan Lake Association of Sportsmen. Physically or mentally challenged individuals can go fishing with a buddy by boat or along the shore of Cowan Lake. Volunteers assist anglers with disabilities. June 11-12 - Banana Split Festival. The fabulous 1950s and 1960s are celebrated at the nation’s only Banana Split Festival. This is the event’s 15th year. July July 3 - Clinton County Bicentennial Parade and Festival in downtown Blanchester. The sights and sounds of a small hometown parade takes on huge proportions as hundreds participate in this special event to celebrate Clinton County’s bicentennial. “Two Hundred Years of History” is the theme. After the parade, there will be live entertainment, street vendors and rides to extend the celebration until after dark, when a superb fireworks show will serve as the grand finale.
